BOTOX®

Why BOTOX® Cosmetic?

Whenever we use the muscles of our face to express our emotions (happiness, concern, surprise), we develop lines, furrows, and wrinkles in our skin. The muscles beneath the skin repeatedly fold the skin and over time the collagen is broken down perpendicular to the muscle fibers and result in skin damage that appears as a line. These micro-injuries worsen over time and are most noticeable around the eyes, mouth, forehead and especially between the eyebrows. As these lines and wrinkles worsen, we begin to look angry, tired, sad and/or old. BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also help reverse these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and more refreshed. Laura, owner, and injector at Elle Medical Aesthetics, employs a natural approach to BOTOX administration to create a relaxed, refreshed and youthful look.

What Is BOTOX®?

BOTOX Cosmetic is a highly purified protein injected into the skin to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles due to repeated facial expressions, such as on the forehead. The protein binds in the muscle and prevents the nerves from sending signals to the muscle to contract. The onset of action is usually a few days to two weeks after treatment and the duration of action is typically from three to four months. Not all wrinkles in the face are treatable however, those due to excessive contraction of the muscles associated with facial expressions often are improved after BOTOX administration. BOTOX will not correct lines due to volume

loss or gravitational sagging of the skin- such as the nasolabial folds, also known as smile lines or

“the parentheses”, and the marionettes or “puppet lines” around the mouth. These lines are

better treated with dermal fillers to restore volume, and occasionally, surgery is

necessary for more effective correction.

What Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Correct?

BOTOX Cosmetic is the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States and one of our most requested procedures. Safe, quick and effective, BOTOX reduces wrinkles and facial lines for up to three to four months with virtually no downtime and little to no discomfort. Through a series of small injections, BOTOX affords you a refreshed look by smoothing frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines, crow’s feet lines around the eyes, and perioral lines. BOTOX can also be used to sculpt the face by selectively relaxing specific facial muscles that position facial structures in an undesirable place. For example, the outer eyebrows (brow lift) and corners of the mouth can be elevated by relaxing the depressor

muscles that pull them down.

Other Uses for BOTOX®

In addition to smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, Botox may be useful for treating chronic

headaches, excessive sweating, and jaw pain.

Excessive Underarm Perspiration
Patients who suffer from hyperhidrosis (severe underarm perspiration) that does not respond to conventional over-the-counter treatments may be a candidate for treatment with BOTOX.

Duration of the effect of BOTOX is typically 4 – 6 months.

DERMAL FILLERS

What Is Juvéderm®?

Juvéderm® is an injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid categorized as a dermal filler that may correct signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, thinning lips and volume loss. By adding volume, Juvederm can sculpt the face, “plump up” the lips and restore a youthful shape to the face. hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is highly biocompatible and non-animal-based, Juvederm is a low allergen and no pre-treatment skin testing is needed. Juvéderm is supplied in multiple formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated including Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Vollure and Juvederm Volbella. Results can last from six months to two years, depending on the filler used and the area treated.

Procedure & Recovery Time
The injection itself usually takes approximately 30 minutes.

Although anesthesia is not required, your practitioner may use a topical or anesthetic to numb the treatment area. JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel will be injected under your skin to add volume or fill wrinkles and folds.

After the injection, your doctor may gently massage the treated areas.

There is minimal recovery time with JUVÉDERM. For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to

help minimize the risk of bruising, temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites.

Some temporary symptoms such as bruising, redness, pain, firmness, swelling, and bumps may occur

but usually clear up on their own within a week. Any swelling at the injection site can be minimized

with an ice pack for a brief period.

What Are The Results?
Most clients see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas although results may vary and follow-up treatments are required to maintain results.

MICRONEEDLING

MICRONEEDLING

MICRONEEDLING

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is the next big thing in the world of cosmetic procedures. This rejuvenation procedure is minimally invasive. Our highly-trained professionals use the only FDA-approved mircroneedling device on the market, SkinPen, to create controlled micro insertions into the skin to initiate and stimulate the natural healing properties of the skin.

The popularity of this procedure has skyrocketed because it can induce collagen and elastin production while keeping the top layer of your skin intact. Not only is this procedure incredibly effective, it generally involves little to no downtime, is affordable and unlike most laser procedures, can be performed on all skin types without the risk of

hypo or hyperpimentation.

Microneedling benefits include improved texture including the reduction of acne scarring, skin tightening, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improved tone and the reduction of unwanted pigment, such as melasma. Our practitioners have seen drastic improvements in the signs of aging and imperfections in our patients’ skin using SkinPen.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

Here at Elle Medical Aesthetics, we can further enhance the positive effects of microneedling by combining Microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy. PRP is a sample of blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. During this simple procedure, blood is taken from the patient and then put through a Centrifuge machine to separate the platelets. These platelets are known to have various healing qualities and Growth Factors that can completely rejuvenate the skin. The platelet-rich plasma is driven into the skin using the SkinPen during a microneedling procedure so that the skin can utilize the nutrients as healing is induced.

This innovative procedure is making incredible strides in Aesthetic Medicine. By utilizing the healing properties of your very own blood, you can see results more quickly than with Collagen Induction Therapy alone.

Benefits of combining Microneedling and PRP Therapy include:

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • Corrects skin damage caused by the sun and environment

  • Prevents premature aging

  • Fades or completely eliminates the appearance of scars

  • Treats rapid skin stretching, or stretch marks

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation

  • Alleviates symptoms caused by skin conditions such as Rosacea and Acne and Melasma

  • Minimizes age spots

  • Lessens pore size in the face

  • Improves texture

  • Assists in the treatment of hair loss caused by various conditions

One of the major reasons microneedling has become so popular in the industry is that the procedure has minimal to no side effects and calls for a very short recovery time. The exact length of recovery varies depending on the patient’s skin type and depth of treatment, but most patients are completely recovered within 24 hours. Side effects are minor and may include moderate sunburn-like redness, mild swelling, and limited peeling. However, these symptoms

are temporary and typically disappear within 12 hours to a few days.

BROW LAMINAITON

Brow lamination straightens and lifts your natural hairs to achieve a full and feathered look. Brow lamination creates the look of full brows by realigning the directional hair growth and enhancing the brow shape.

Great for for stubborn, down growing, curly brows to achieve a feathered brow look.

With brow lamination, there's a little bit of a misconception that once you laminate your brows, they're stuck in that position permanently or temporarily for X amount of time, but essentially what it's doing, is it's giving you the flexibility to style your hairs in ways that you typically wouldn't.

SPRAY TAN / WAX

SPRAY TAN

AVIVA SPRAY TAN

Spray tans last approximately 5 to 10 days. The first step in understanding how to get the most out of your tan is understanding how the product works. The darkening of your skin is due to a naturally-derived ingredient called Dihydroxyacetone (DHA for short) and is only temporary because, unlike UV rays from a natural sun tan, spray tanning only affects the topmost layer of your skin. This means that a spray tan will only last as long as that top layer of skin, which is determined by your personal skin cycle (where dead skin sloughs off and is replaced by newer skin underneath).

While everyone’s skin cycle is as unique, there ways to lengthen the time between skin cell birth and death; better, there are also ways you can improve your spray tan prep to get more out of each visit

Exfoliating cleans your pores, removes unwanted residues from soaps, shampoos, fragrances and restarts your skin cycle by removing all the older skin, bringing you to a clean slate. This is perfect for spray tanning because the fresher your skin is the longer you have before your tan starts fading, and because exfoliating removes those residues, which can actually create a barrier between you and the product. By exfoliating properly you can extend the life of your tan and ensure even color distribution.

Avoid PH Balancing Sprays, prep sprays, and barrier creams. Anything that is sprayed or applied to your skin prior to your spray tan service is going to negatively impact your tan by creating a barrier between you and the solution. This barrier means that the tanning solution is not adhering as effectively as it could, so you aren’t getting the best tan results possible, resulting in a faster fading tan and in some cases a blotchy or patchy tan where the DHA couldn’t get through at all due to the barrier.

It is okay to shave the morning of your spray tan, but only if the service is still a few hours away, and if you have time to exfoliate your skin afterwards. Shaving opens up the pores in your skin and the shaving cream leaves a residue on your skin, both of which can negatively impact a tan’s life expectancy and performance. If you absolutely must shave right before your tan, do so with lukewarm water, a brand new razor, and an oil-free shaving cream; the results can still be impacted but they’ll be better than the alternative!

The most important thing to remember is DON’T wash it off too early, before the DHA has had a chance to work. This will result in the loss of your tan (or at least most of it). Most “traditional” spray tan solutions require a full 8-12 hours to develop. There are rapid tan solutions out there, which means you can leave the solution on for as little as 30 minutes in some cases, but it’s important to understand that you’ll still lose your bronzer color when you first rinse off with a rapid tan- the tan from a rapid solution will darken over time (that same 8-12 hours).

After your tan, use products with fewer ingredients to less likely negatively affect your tan. Moisturize in the days leading up to your spray tan and the days after to maintain the glow. Also minimize exposure to chlorine, ocean water and excessive sweating Avoiding these things will help your tan last longer but these things are often unavoidable. Just make sure to rinse well after and moisturize to reduce the effects on your skin and tan.

We chose Aviva as our preferred brand of spray tan because it’s oil free, alcohol free, fragrance free, and contains no aloe vera (meaning you won’t leave feeling sticky!) It also has proper bronzer to DHA ratio, no unnecessary ingredients, & is hypoallergenic, eco-certified, and available in a variety of colors. We also have a “Hollywood” spray tan which is fast acting and people are able to shower just an hour after the application.

BASIC: $45 (6+ hour setting time)

WAXING
Screen Shot 2019-12-06 at 1.32.55 PM.png

WAXING

Waxing is a fairly long-lasting method of hair removal – it can last from 3 to 6 weeks. Better yet, the hair grows back softer and sparser, reducing the “stubble effect”. If you wax consistently, waxing will change the growth cycle and physiology of your hair follicle. Continued waxing will also cause hair growth to diminish over time. It is the process of weakening the hair follicle; with repeated treatment the hair growth reduces.

In order to have the best waxing results, make sure that your hair is grown out to about 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch. This is the ideal length for hair to be before getting waxed because it will allow the wax to get a better grip on the hair and be removed directly from the root, rather than just the hair above the skin. If you are transiting between waxing and shaving, avoid shaving after a wax and if your hair is starting to grow, as shaving reverses the effect of waxing.

The wax we use at Elle is the GiGi all purpose Honee wax. This wax is globally recognized as “the #1 professional hair removal formula in the world. GiGi All Purpose Honee is the standard by which all other waxes are measured” (GiGi®) . It provides full body hair removal for all skin & hair types. GiGi All Purpose Honee Wax contains the extremely beneficial properties of beeswax.

It’s gentle enough for your most delicate areas, while also working to thoroughly remove unwanted hair. When you apply this All Purpose Honee wax from GiGi to your skin, you’ll find that it not only removes unwanted hair but instantly leaves your skin sleek, soft and silky.
